...FLOOD ADVISORY IN EFFECT UNTIL 7 PM CDT THIS EVENING...
* WHAT...Flooding caused by excessive rainfall is expected.
* WHERE...A portion of southeast Missouri, including the following
county, Cape Girardeau.
* WHEN...Until 700 PM CDT.
* IMPACTS...Minor flooding in low-lying and poor drainage areas.
* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...
- At 600 PM CDT, Doppler radar indicated heavy rain due to
thunderstorms over parts of the county. Some of these storms
could repeat over the same areas with heavy rainfall. Minor
flooding is ongoing or expected to begin shortly in the
advisory area.
- Additional rainfall amounts up to 1 inch are expected over
the area. This additional rain, repeated over the same areas
having already experienced heavy rainfall, will result in
minor flooding.
- Some locations that will experience flooding include...
Cape Girardeau, Jackson, Bollinger Mill State Historic Site,
Gordonville, Millersville, Daisy, Burfordville, Oak Ridge,
Pocahontas, and Old Appleton.
PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...
Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood
deaths occur in vehicles.
