Area Forecast Discussion

.KEY MESSAGES...

- Dry and quiet weather persists this week

&&

.FORECAST UPDATE...
Issued at 1001 PM EDT Mon Oct 19 2026

Quiet weather will continue across central Indiana overnight with
high pressure remaining in control. Some high clouds will move
across at times, making skies partly cloudy for some of the time
overnight.

For now with the clear skies and light winds, temperatures have
dropped very quickly once again. Have lowered hourly forecasts to
match the trends in observations. Have also nudged down low
temperatures, mainly in areas that have cooled down the most.
Wouldn't rule out some isolated frost, but coverage is not expected
to be enough for any advisory.

.DISCUSSION (This evening through Monday)...
Issued at 317 PM EDT Mon Oct 19 2026

Pleasant, sunny fall weather will persist throughout the forecast
period as upper level ridging and broad surface high pressure
dominates the weather pattern.

Each day through at least the work week will largely be the same
with mostly clear skies, light variable winds, and pretty consistent
temperatures. Highs will range from the upper 60s to low 70s while
overnight lows will be in the low to mid 40s. By the weekend,
overnight lows could warm ever so slightly, into the upper 40s, as
southern flow strengthens due to ridging to the west becoming more
amplified. Going into the weekend will likely also see a slight
increase in dew points as well as upper level moisture which could
produce scattered clouds.

Given the dry weather, there is some fire weather concern through
the next week. Winds will luckily stay low and RH values are
expected to stay above critical threshold, but do take precautions
with open fire.

Looking into the long range, the next shot of precipitation does not
look possible until next week with the chance of a frontal system
moving through.

.AVIATION (00Z TAF Issuance)...
Issued at 642 PM EDT Mon Oct 19 2026

Impacts:

- None expected

Discussion:

VFR conditions are expected through the period, as high pressure
continues to provide dry conditions and light winds. Some high
clouds will move through at times.

Similar to what happened at KHUF this morning, cannot rule out brief
restrictions in fog near sunrise at all but KIND. However, odds are
too low to put in the TAFs.
