Area Forecast Discussion
National Weather Service Wilmington OH
Issued by National Weather Service Jackson KY
107 PM EDT Sat Oct 3 2026

.WHAT HAS CHANGED...
No significant changes needed with this update.

&&

.KEY MESSAGES...
1) Clouds will give way to clearing as drier air moves into the area
this morning.

2) Expect generally dry conditions along with temperatures below
normal through the middle of next week. Temperatures then warm back
to somewhat above normal by next Friday.

&&

.DISCUSSION...
Key Message 1)

In the wake of a cold front surface high pressure will build into the
Great Lakes becoming centered over Lower Michigan by sunrise Saturday
morning. Northeast low level flow around this high will advect drier
air into the region. Lingering mid level clouds across the southern
counties will clear from northwest to southeast with lows ranging
from the upper 40s to the lower 50s.

Key Message 2)

Westerly flow aloft with surface high pressure building across the
Great Lakes today. In a dry air mass temperatures will be on the
cool side with highs today from the upper 60s north to the lower 70s
along and south of the Ohio River. These readings will be around 5
degrees below normal.

Ahead of a weak system moving through the Great Lakes a brief
moderation to near normal temperatures will be observed on Sunday.
In the wake of this system the mid level flow veers northwesterly
with Canadian high pressure builds southeast into the region early
next week. High temperatures will be mainly in the 60s Monday and
Tuesday - around 7 to 10 degrees below normal. Lows look to be around
10 degrees below normal with the potential for patchy frost Monday
night and Tuesday night. A weak cold front drops south into the area
late Wednesday into Thursday but loses its identity. With a dry air
mass in place only expect an increase in clouds. Readings moderate to
near or slightly above normal for the end of the week into next
weekend as mid level ridging builds north into the Ohio Valley.

&&

.AVIATION /18Z SATURDAY THROUGH THURSDAY/...

Mainly VFR conditions are forecast through the period. One exception
is fog which is expected to occur near the Ohio River and in valleys
in southeast OH overnight and early Sunday. It should bring
localized IFR or worse conditions, probably affecting KLUK. Northeast
winds around 10 kts this afternoon will diminish tonight and then
become light northwest to north on Sunday.

OUTLOOK...No significant weather is expected.
