The National Weather Service in New Orleans has extended the

* Flash Flood Warning for...
  North Central Jefferson Parish in southeastern Louisiana...
  West Central Orleans Parish in southeastern Louisiana...

* Until 930 PM CDT.

* At 714 PM CDT, Doppler radar indicated thunderstorms producing 
  heavy rain in Multiple underpasses are impassable. . Between 3 and 
  5 inches of rain have fallen. The expected rainfall rate is 2 to 3 
  inches in 1 hour. Additional rainfall amounts of 1 to 3 inches are 
  possible in the warned area. Flash flooding is already occurring.

  HAZARD...Life threatening flash flooding. Thunderstorms
           producing flash flooding.

  SOURCE...Radar.

  IMPACT...Life threatening flash flooding of canals, urban
           areas, highways, streets and underpasses.

* Some locations that will experience flash flooding include...
  New Orleans, Metairie, Avondale, Jefferson, Gretna, Harahan, 
  Elmwood, River Ridge, Waggaman and Lakefront Airport.

This includes the following Interstates...
	Interstate 10 in Louisiana between mile markers 229 and 242.
	Interstate 610 between mile markers 1 and 4.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood 
deaths occur in vehicles.

Be aware of your surroundings and do not drive on flooded roads.
