.DISCUSSION...
Issued at 1039 PM CDT Tue Sep 22 2026

The upcoming forecast is certainly a sight for sore eyes as we
have a genuine cool front push across the area from the northeast
to bring "cooler" and drier air into the region Thursday. We
tough it out for another day as highs warm into the lower to
middle 90's and lows in the lower to middle 70's. However, as we
head into Thursday we see that push of cooler, drier air working
its way into the area from the northeast. This is all thanks to a
backdoor cold front pushing across the area associated with
ongoing CAD (Cold Air Damming) across the Carolinas/Georgia. This
should bring us back to near to perhaps slightly below normal highs
and lows for this time of the year. Highs will generally be in
the middle to upper 80's and lows in the lower to middle 60's late
week into the weekend. Friday night into Saturday morning will
likely be the coolest night as lows over the interior may dip into
the upper 50's.

There isn't much else to talk about, overall the forecast is dry
although ahead of and along that front Wednesday night into
Thursday I can't rule out an isolated shower or storm that tries
to get going. Otherwise, we stay dry through the rest of the week
into the weekend. The rip current risk will remain Low through
Thursday before increasing to a Moderate risk Thursday night into
Friday as easterly winds along the coast strengthen in the wake of
the front. MM/25

Issued at 1215 AM CDT Wed Sep 23 2026

Some patchy fog is possible over interior areas overnight, and a
couple of showers or storms may develop Wednesday afternoon into
the early evening. VFR conditions are otherwise anticipated
through Wednesday evening. Calm or light and variable winds
overnight become northeasterly around 5 knots by mid Wednesday
morning, with a switch to an easterly or southeasterly direction
at 5-10 knots near the immediate coast in the afternoon. /29

a bit stronger on Friday. Seas will be around 1 foot, then slowly
build to 2 to 4 feet Thursday into Friday.
