.DISCUSSION...
Issued at 1043 PM CDT Mon Jul 6 2026

Isolated showers and storms will persist through the rest of the
overnight hours, becoming increasingly focused near the coast by
daybreak. Expect isolated to scattered coverage of storms to shift
inland by the afternoon hours. We continue to sit on the periphery
of a cutoff upper low just northwest of the area which is helping
to bolster our storm chances today and Wednesday. Upper ridging
begins to work its way back into the area mid to late week,
gradually tapering storm chances to more isolated to locally
scattered by late week into the weekend.

Temperatures will remain hot, generally in the lower to middle
90's any given afternoon. Heat indices will also remain in the 100
to 107 range each day. Overnight lows likewise stay toasty in the
middle 70's, with upper 70's to lower 80's possible each night
along the immediate coast. A Low risk of rip currents continues
through Thursday, with the exception of the Florida Panhandle
being a Moderate risk today. A Moderate risk returns to all of our
Alabama and Florida Panhandle beaches Friday into Saturday. MM/25
