The National Weather Service in Mobile has issued a
* Special Marine Warning for...
Coastal waters from Pensacola FL to Pascagoula MS out 20 NM...
Mississippi Sound...
South Mobile Bay...
* Until 400 PM CDT.
* At 227 PM CDT, a strong thunderstorm capable of producing
waterspouts was located near Bon Secour Bay, or 9 nm east of Sand
Island Lighthouse, moving west at 5 knots.
HAZARD...Waterspouts and wind gusts 34 knots or greater.
SOURCE...Radar.
IMPACT...Waterspouts can easily overturn boats and create locally
hazardous seas. Small craft could be damaged in briefly
higher winds and suddenly higher waves.
* Locations impacted include...
Fort Gaines, Fort Morgan, Farewell Buoy, and Sand Island
Lighthouse.
PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...
Move to safe harbor until hazardous weather passes.
Thunderstorms can produce sudden waterspouts. Waterspouts can easily
overturn boats and create locally hazardous seas. Seek safe harbor
immediately.
