[Delayed Report] 2 NW Michigan City [La Porte Co, IN] Newspaper reports Misc Mrn/Srf Hzd at 22 Jun, 6:58 PM EDT -- *** 1 FATAL, 4 INJ *** Teenager drowned during high swim risk conditions at Washington Park Beach. Per the buoy, waves were about 4 feet with 5 second periods approaching from the north. Conditions were favorable for strong structural and rip currents, though at this time its not known if the incident was current-related (Pending more investigation). In the rescue/recovery efforts, 4 divers (3 MCFD/1 DNR) sustained injuries because of the water conditions. Recovery efforts ongoing as of this report.
