Area Forecast Discussion
National Weather Service New Orleans LA
644 PM CDT Sat Oct 11 2025

...New AVIATION...

.SHORT TERM...
(This afternoon through Sunday)
Issued at 644 PM CDT Sat Oct 11 2025

The upper level trough over the southeast will eventually gain a
cutoff low, then begin moving off the coast of the southeast CONUS.
During this period the winds will still be a little elevated
since the pressure gradient between the trough and the ridge to
the west is bit tighter, but once it starts going that will help
high pressure build in and bring lighter and more variable winds.
Other than that, dry and seasonable temperatures for Oct in the
low to mid 80s continue for this weekend.

&&

.LONG TERM...
(Sunday night through Friday)
Issued at 644 PM CDT Sat Oct 11 2025

The upper level ridge builds in from the west starting next work
week and eventually closes off over Texas. This should help
suppress rain chances and keep the drier air in the area for at
least through Thursday. Going into Friday, we start to get onshore
flow again bringing more moisture into the area as the ridge
opens up again. So there may be a small chance of rain late
Friday but it would not really be appreciable amounts. High
temperatures build into the mid to upper 80s for the rest of the
week.

.AVIATION...
(00Z TAFS)
Issued at 644 PM CDT Sat Oct 11 2025

VFR conditions continue at all terminals and will remain in
similar conditions through the forecast period.

&&

.MARINE...
Issued at 644 PM CDT Sat Oct 11 2025

With the pressure gradient starting to relax as high pressure
builds into the area, the higher winds and waves should begin to
calm down later today. Other than that, the winds should remain
relatively light with benign conditions.
