...FLOOD ADVISORY IN EFFECT UNTIL 915 PM EDT THIS EVENING...
* WHAT...Urban and small stream flooding caused by excessive
rainfall is expected.
* WHERE...A portion of east central Kentucky, including the
following counties, Estill and Powell.
* WHEN...Until 915 PM EDT.
* IMPACTS...Minor flooding in low-lying and poor drainage areas.
* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...
- At 609 PM EDT, Doppler radar indicated heavy rain due to
thunderstorms. This will cause urban and small stream
flooding. Up to 1.5 inches of rain is estimated to have
fallen over the past hour.
- Additional rainfall amounts of 0.5 to 1.5 inches are expected
over the advisory areas over the next 1 to 2 hours. This
additional rain will result in minor flooding.
- Some locations that will experience flooding include...
Cressy, Iron Mound, Kimbrell, Hargett, Spout Springs, Palmer,
Fox, Harris Ferry and Sam.
PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...
Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood
deaths occur in vehicles.
