mid Mississippi Valley.
- Two systems move across the Great Lakes this weekend, bringing
a scattered chance for rain early Saturday and another, more
widespread chance for rain area-wide on Sunday.

Happy first day of spring! In typical Midwest fashion, it definitely
does not feel like spring today with rain/snow showers, gusty winds,
and temperatures struggling to get out of the 30s! The low pressure
system that brought mild temperatures and severe weather to our area
last night has lifted north into Ontario, and as the backside of the
low wraps around, we briefly return to wintry weather today. Light
snow showers are expected to persist this afternoon with brief,
minor accumulations possible, mainly on the grass and on elevated
surfaces. Strong CAA and gusty northwest winds will keep
temperatures locked in the 30s all day today and tonight, with wind
chills in the teens and 20s. Winds could gust as high as 30 to 35
mph this afternoon and into the early evening before diminishing
after sunset as the system departs and the pressure gradient
weakens.
High pressure builds across the Mid and Lower Mississippi valleys
tonight into tomorrow, setting the stage for a dry and milder day
ahead as moderate WAA ensues. The next chance for rain arrives early
Saturday morning as a clipper system dives through the Upper Great
Lakes. With lows in the mid 30s to near 40 Saturday morning, it
appears as of now that precipitation will be mainly scattered rain
but wouldn't be surprised to see a few snowflakes mix in as
well.
A large pressure system traverses the Upper Plains over the weekend
following the clipper system, with yet another chance for rain on
Sunday. Rain appears to be more likely and more widespread on Sunday
than on Saturday. Near normal to slightly cooler than normal
temperatures are here to stay through the upcoming weekend and week
ahead. The active pattern looks to continue for the end of March
even into early April as multiple rain chances appear possible next
week and beyond.

VFR conditions will persist through the period with some
increase in high clouds in advance of the next system arriving
later Friday night. Southwest winds will pick up with gusts up
to 30 knots by late Friday morning and Friday afternoon.
