.DISCUSSION...
Issued at 1233 PM CST Wed Mar 5 2025
We will continue with the Wind Advisory through 00 UTC. Most
areas are starting to fall a bit short. But with Advisory across
the entire region, and still enough wind of note, no reason
to change course now.
A band of light rain and snow will continue to transition to light
snow from southern IL into southwest IN, as moisture continues to
pivot around a deep cyclone over the Great Lakes region. Most
of the activity will be north and east of a KMVN to KHOP line,
including the Evansville Tri-State region. The precipitation
will end from west to east through the evening hours.
Winds will subside noticeably after midnight, with weak high pressure
returning to the area Thursday. The clouds will clear later tonight
into tomorrow morning from west to east.
The overall upper air pattern will transition to more of a split flow
regime by Friday. A developing system over the southwest will spur
Plains cyclogenesis, with the low moving from KS to MO Friday,
then weakening quickly as a boundary moves south across the area
to start the weekend. Shortwave energy passing just to our
north and the the presence of the boundary should be enough to
produce a light rain event Friday night.
Dry weather returns for the weekend as high pressure builds in over
the area. We will generally be in northwest flow aloft with energy
and moisture passing by to our south.
After a brief cool down over the weekend, temperatures will rebound
early next week, as mid level heights rise in response to a building
ridge over the nation's mid section.
