AVIATION...
(00Z TAFS)
Issued at 621 PM CST Sun Feb 2 2025

VFR conditions prevail for the majority of the area through this
evening and into the overnight hours, the exception being coastal
Alabama and portions of southeast Mississippi where VLIFR and
LIFR conditions due to fog likely develops after midnight. Light
and variable to calm winds will continue overnight. Fog lifts by
around 14-15Z Monday morning, with VFR conditions expected for the
remainder of the day. Winds still generally light and somewhat
variable on Monday, but becoming predominately southeasterly 5 to
10 knots near the coast during the afternoon. DS/12

PREV DISCUSSION... /issued 355 PM CST Sun Feb 2 2025/

.New NEAR TERM, LONG TERM, MARINE...

NEAR TERM...
(Now through Monday Night)
Issued at 355 PM CST Sun Feb 2 2025

Dry and warm conditions will continue as westerly flow aloft
prevails north of an upper ridge over the Gulf, while a surface
ridge persists across the southeast states. Light southerly return
flow will bring a thin layer of boundary layer moisture northward,
resulting in the development of patchy to areas of fog tonight and
Monday night. There is a strong signal from the CAMs developing
areas of dense fog across coastal Alabama, so a Dense Fog Advisory
(DFA) has been issued for Mobile and Baldwin counties. This DFA
may need to be expanded overnight to include portions of SE
Mississippi.

Lows tonight will be mild (3-8 degrees above normal) and range from
the low 40s interior communities to around 50 degrees at the
beaches. Highs on Monday will be 7-14 degrees above normal, and
range from 70 to 75 degrees. Lows Monday night will be warm (10-17
degrees above normal) and range from 49 to 54 degrees interior
communities to around 55 degrees at the beaches. /22

LONG TERM...
(Tuesday through Sunday)
Issued at 355 PM CST Sun Feb 2 2025

A general zonal flow pattern aloft will continue through the
period as upper-level ridging builds over the Gulf and a series of
upper troughs pass well to our north. At the surface, high
pressure over the western Atlantic will maintain its hold over our
area through the period. Subsidence from this high should keep
the area dry through the week and into the weekend, although a few
isolated showers may be possible over far interior counties on
Thursday and Friday as shortwave energy passes to our north and a
weakening front stalls and washes out just to our north of our
area. Otherwise, light onshore flow will allow for temperatures to
climb into the 70s each day, with a few inland locations
potentially hitting the 80 degree mark. Lows will remain mild,
with temperatures only dropping into the upper 50s to low 60s. The
persistent onshore flow will also allow for moisture levels to
increase through the period and patchy fog development looks
possible each night. May have to watch for the potential of dense
seafog developing each night as dew points climb into the mid 60s
over-top water temperatures in the low to mid 50s. /96

MARINE...
Issued at 355 PM CST Sun Feb 2 2025

A Dense Fog Advisory has been issued for Mobile Bay, the
Mississippi Sound, and the near shore Alabama Gulf Waters late
tonight through mid-morning Monday. Light and variable winds through
Tuesday morning will be followed by a light onshore flow Tuesday
afternoon through Friday. Fog is possible over Mobile Bay, the
Mississippi Sound, and the near shore Alabama Gulf Waters each night
through at least the middle of the week. /22
