NEAR TERM...
(Now through Thursday)
Issued at 343 PM CST Wed Jan 22 2025
Dry conditions continue over the area through Thursday. With
snowpack in place roughly along and south of a line from
Greenville, Alabama to just north of Wiggins, Mississippi, this
will contribute to enhanced radiational cooling tonight. Have
issued an Extreme Cold Warning for the entire area which will be
in effect from 9 pm this evening. The criteria for this product is
apparent temperature values of 10 or lower over interior areas
and 15 or lower for our southern portion, and anticipate apparent
temperature values to be similar in these respective areas. Lows
tonight mostly range from 9 to 15. Highs on Thursday range from
the mid 30s to mid 40s. A low risk of rip currents is expected
through Thursday. /29
LONG TERM...
(Thursday night through Wednesday)
Issued at 343 PM CST Wed Jan 22 2025
A massive positively tilted upper trof over the central and
eastern CONUS ejects off across the eastern states and into the
western Atlantic through Friday night. Another upper trof
meanwhile develops over the western states, then heading into
Monday this feature splits and forms a cut off upper low near the
Baja to 4 Corners area while the remainder of the upper trof
moves into the eastern CONUS. A surface low passes well to the
north and is expected to bring a weak trailing cold front slowly
through the forecast area on Monday. A Cold Weather Advisory may
become necessary for much of the area Thursday night and Friday
night for apparent temperature values dropping to 20-25.
Temperatures then begin to moderate somewhat for Saturday into
Saturday night ahead of the approaching front. Dry conditions are
expected over the area through Saturday night, then rain chances
increase to mostly chance to good chance pops by Sunday night with
chance pops for Monday. Lows Sunday night drop to the mid 30s well
inland, but at this time the precipitation looks to remain as a
cold rain. Dry conditions then prevail for Monday night into
Tuesday. A low risk of rip currents is expected from Thursday
night through Sunday. /29
MARINE...
Issued at 343 PM CST Wed Jan 22 2025

direction tonight. A light to moderate easterly to southeasterly
