Rainfall overnight into this morning, along with prolonged cloud
cover will limit temperature gains this morning through the early
afternoon. This has significantly lowered the expected heat index
values for today. Temperatures are now expected to be in the upper
80s to near 90 with heat index values in the mid to upper 90s.

* WHAT...Heat index values up to 105 expected.
* WHERE...Portions of central, east central, south central,
southeast, southwest, and west central Indiana.
* WHEN...From 11 AM this morning to 8 PM EDT this evening.
* IMPACTS...Hot temperatures and high humidity may cause heat
illnesses.
* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...There is some uncertainty on maximum
temperatures and heat index values this afternoon due to the
potential for thunderstorms. Any area where thunderstorms occur
this afternoon could see a quick relief from high heat.
PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...
Drink plenty of fluids, stay in an air-conditioned room, stay out of
the sun, and check up on relatives and neighbors.
Take extra precautions when outside. Wear lightweight and loose
fitting clothing. Try to limit strenuous activities to early morning
or evening. Take action when you see symptoms of heat exhaustion and
heat stroke.
