.NEAR TERM...
(Now through Wednesday)
Issued at 400 PM CDT Tue Aug 20 2024
Cooler and drier conditions continue through Wednesday night. The
upper trough will continue to deepen across the eastern US while
upper ridging builds over the west. A subtle shortwave will move
through the northwesterly flow Wednesday afternoon bringing maybe
just enough ascent for some high clouds across the are. At the
surface the cold front has pushed well into the central Gulf.
Dewpoints have dropped into the mid 60s this afternoon and will
remain in the mid to low 60s through the forecast. While high
temperatures will still climb into the 90s, it just won't feel as
bad out with the lower moisture values. Overall a rather nice
couple days expected for mid August. BB/03

.SHORT AND LONG TERM...
(Thursday through Tuesday)
Issued at 400 PM CDT Tue Aug 20 2024
A weak upper level low is forecast to develop over the deep south
Thursday into Friday and gradually drift westward across the
northern Gulf through the end of the week. An east to southeast
sfc flow pattern will bring enough Gulf and Atlantic moisture into
the area for a return to scattered to locally numerous showers
and thunderstorms on Thursday mainly east of I-65. Isolated to
scattered showers and storms will continue each day into early
next week mainly over the southern half of the area.
Highs will be in the low to mid 90s each afternoon. Conditions
will become increasingly more humid each day as moisture levels
increase. /13
