.DISCUSSION...
Issued at 230 PM CDT Tue Aug 6 2024
A cold front will continue to push through the area this
evening before shifting to the southeast overnight. Along and
behind the front, cloud cover will overspread the area by late
this evening from the northwest. Winds will also gust to around
20 to 25 mph. The combination of clouds and wind will help to
limit fog development tonight; however, some patchy fog in a few
areas. A few sprinkles will be possible in the evening, but not
expecting much in the way of precipitation.
The added cloud cover will linger through much of the day Wednesday
as winds remain northerly throughout the day. Gusts will likely
reach up to near 20 mph throughout the day. This will help to keep
temperatures down and it will be much more comfortable outside with
lower humidity values and temperatures.
Thursday into Friday will warm up a bit across the area, with most
locations seeing high temperatures pushing into the upper 80s under
a partly cloudy sky. Winds will remain out of the north, which will
help to keep humidity levels in check and allow for continued fairly
comfortable conditions. Otherwise, surface high pressure will remain
in control of the weather across the Quad State, keeping
precipitation chances out of the area.
Over the weekend and especially into early next week, a ridge is
expected to build across much of the western CONUS with a trough in
place across the east. That will put the Quad State on the
inflection point between the two large scale features. That will set
the stage for increasing chances for showers and storms as
convective systems ride along the inflection beginning as early
as Monday. That may be the setup for much of next week with
temperatures and humidity gradually increasing across the area.

.AVIATION /00Z TAFS THROUGH 00Z WEDNESDAY/...
Issued at 527 PM CDT Tue Aug 6 2024
A cold front is making passage at KMVN at this writing, and
passage at the remaining terminals will soon follow. Its
approach brings introductory SCT-BKN low VFR bases, but its
passage will usher in restricted category CIGS. We'll carry
these restricted category CIGS at flight planning extra fuel
minimum baseline for this writing, and while they should scatter
by morning at KPAH and KCGI, they may linger in restricted
category before rising into low VFR range later in the planning
phase hours of the forecast at KMVN-KEVV-KOWB.
