...FLOOD ADVISORY IN EFFECT UNTIL 1015 PM EDT THIS EVENING...
* WHAT...Flooding caused by excessive rainfall is expected.
* WHERE...Portions of south central and southeast Kentucky,
including the following counties, in south central Kentucky,
Laurel and Pulaski. In southeast Kentucky, Knox.
* WHEN...Until 1015 PM EDT.
* IMPACTS...Minor flooding in low-lying and poor drainage areas.
* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...
- At 815 PM EDT, Doppler radar indicated heavy rain due to
slow-moving showers and thunderstorms. Excessive runoff will
cause minor flooding of small streams and creeks, roads, and
roadside culverts, especially in low lying areas.
- Some locations that will experience flooding include...
Lily, Keavy, Hightop, North Corbin, London-Corbin Airport,
Fariston, Lynn Camp, Holly Bay Rec. Area, Rockcastle Springs,
Lida, Cane Creek, Knoxfork and Gibbs.
PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...
Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood
deaths occur in vehicles.
