.DISCUSSION...
Issued at 1147 AM CDT Tue Oct 27 2026

An upper ridge over the eastern states becomes oriented mostly
over the extreme southeast states through Wednesday as a weakening
shortwave trof progresses across the interior eastern states. The
upper ridge flattens to a zonal flow pattern over the region by
Thursday then builds over the area through Friday as a shortwave trof
advances into the south central states. The upper trof evolves
into a larger feature while progressing across the eastern states
through Sunday, then likely moves off into the western Atlantic
early next week as a longwave trof advances into the central
states. A strong surface ridge persists over the region through
Thursday, then gradually shifts east of the area through the
remainder of the period, allowing for a prevailing northeasterly
surface flow to become easterly to southeasterly this weekend. Dry
conditions continue over the area through Friday, then mainly
chance pops follow for Saturday and Sunday, with likely pops over
interior areas Saturday night. After a long dry spell, beneficial
rainfall amounts of 1-2 inches are expected this weekend, with the
higher amounts well inland. Dry conditions are anticipated on
Monday, then slight chance to chance pops follow for next Tuesday.
Highs on Wednesday through next Tuesday will be mostly in the
upper 70s to lower 80s. Lows tonight range from the mid/upper 40s
well inland to the mid/upper 50s at the coast then trend warmer
through Saturday night to range from the lower 60s well inland to
the mid/upper 60s at the coast. Lows Sunday night and Monday night
tend to range from the upper 50s well inland to the mid 60s at
the coast. A moderate risk of rip currents is expected through
Thursday, with a High Risk for Friday. A moderate risk follows for
Saturday. /29

.AVIATION...
(18Z TAFS)
Issued at 1225 PM CDT Tue Oct 27 2026

VFR conditions will prevail through the period. Rather tranquil
flying conditions over the next 24 hours as a progressive high
pressure gives way to subtle southwesterly flow aloft. This will aid
in a slight uptick for mid and upper-level cloud coverage, but also
keep relatively calm easterly surface winds that will fluctuate
from ESE to NE throughout the night and tomorrow morning for much
of the area.

.MARINE...
Issued at 1147 AM CDT Tue Oct 27 2026

Light to moderate northeasterly winds prevail through Thursday,
occasionally becoming stronger well offshore. A moderate to
occasionally strong and mostly easterly flow follows for Friday
through Saturday. Small craft may need to occasionally exercise
caution well offshore Wednesday through Thursday, then a Small
Craft Advisory may become necessary mainly well offshore from
Friday through Saturday. /29
