.DISCUSSION (Today through Thursday)...
Issued at 308 AM EDT Fri Oct 23 2026

Pleasant yet increasingly dry pattern to continue through at least
early next week, if not the entire forecast period...due to several
factors, starting with stacked ridging over Indiana.  Western North
American trough splitting into active northern jet and southern
cut-off will promote strengthening H500 ridging, which will extend
from central Mexico to much of southeastern Canada by the start of
the weekend, placing the local region under its eastern half.  While
same, nearly-stationary surface high pressure presently occupying
most of the continent's eastern half...shifts to the Atlantic coast
by Monday while still providing dry lower levels back into the
Midwest.

This will translate to much of the same fair conditions seen so far
this week, with subtle moderating trend to continue as thermal ridge
axis aloft sliding over Indiana Sunday-Monday brings unseasonable
warmth nearing 75F.  Remarkably persistent calm/light winds should
also continue to be the rule as pattern directs more active weekend
storm well north across interior Canada.  Likely a few clouds will
return as small weaknesses embedded in the upper ridge cross the CWA.
Patchy late night/early morning fog will also be a mainly isolated
hazard through Sunday morning.

The latter half of the period will find the impressive ridge
shrinking southward, allowing the next chilly air mass to slide east
along the US-Canada border and smaller forcing to take a northern
path into the Upper Midwest. Expect partly to mostly cloudy skies
from associated fetch of moisture from southwest...yet continued
mild conditions amid light southerly breezes. Low confidence in
any precipitation in central Indiana through Thursday...ahead of
some rain potential around the Halloween weekend.

.AVIATION (06Z TAF Issuance)...
Issued at 119 AM EDT Fri Oct 23 2026

Impacts:

- MVFR/IFR VIS in patchy fog expected within 07Z-13Z outside of KIND

Discussion:

Stagnant blocking ridge over eastern North America will continue to
host patchy pre-dawn to early morning fog outside of KIND...with
MVFR and likely generally brief IFR/very brief LIFR at most
outpost terminals.

VFR conditions will otherwise continue through Friday night as
stacked high pressure maintains mainly SKC and light, generally
easterly winds. Strong subsidence to continue into the weekend.
