- A Moderate Risk of Rip Currents is in place for local area
beaches across Alabama and Florida today.
- Daily shower/storm chances will persist through the week, with
an increase in afternoon coverage on Thursday. Waterspouts will
be possible over the Gulf waters mainly during the morning hours
each day.
- Heat index values near 100 trend higher through this week,
potentially reaching 105-108 in some locations by late in the
week on into Saturday.

The area will remain in an easterly mid/upper flow pattern as an
upper ridge remains centered to our north. This will maintain a
typical summer pattern with daily isolated to scattered showers
and thunderstorms through Wednesday. Weak disturbances riding west
along the southern periphery of the ridge will bring increased
rain chances Thursday into Friday. Highs will increase into the
mid 90s, but daily afternoon mixing will drop dewpoints into the
low 70s/upper 60s and prevent afternoon heat indices from reaching
widespread heat advisory criteria.
The ridge shifts westward and builds across the central plains this
weekend. This will result in a north to northwest flow pattern
across the area, potentially allowing convective complexes to move
southward into the area this weekend into early next week. /13

VFR conditions will prevail through the period. Thunderstorms are
possible tomorrow afternoon near the seabreeze, however these are
expected to stay very isolated in nature. If confidence increases in
more coverage then a PROB30 may be added with the next forecast.
The current southerly winds become light and variable overnight.
By tomorrow morning, winds will be generally northeasterly to
easterly at 5-10 knots and shift southerly to southeasterly with
periodic gusts up to 15 knots as the afternoon seabreeze advances.
