.DISCUSSION...
Issued at 1105 PM CDT Sun Jul 5 2026
Isolated to scattered showers and thunderstorms continue to be
expected each afternoon through late week, with best chances today
and Tuesday. The area remains under southerly to southwesterly
flow aloft on the periphery of upper troughing located across the
ArkLaTex region helping foster our increased storm chances. Ample
moisture and instability will allow for any storms to have the
potential to become strong with gusty winds, small hail, heavy
rainfall, and frequent lightning.
Upper ridging gradually begins to build back into the area mid to
late week, tempering rain chances somewhat and bringing hotter
temperatures back to the area. Highs in the upper 80's to lower
90's today and Tuesday warm back to lower and middle 90's for most
locations by mid to late week. Overnight lows remain in the middle
70's each night. Heat indices will generally reside in the 100 to
107 range each afternoon throughout the forecast period, warmest
as we get into late week. A Low risk of rip currents remains in
place through the week. MM/25
