.DISCUSSION...
Issued at 1241 AM CST Fri Dec 5 2025
We saw the bulk of the rain on Thursday across most of the
forecast area of this 3 day event as models are now trending
downward with PoPs and QPF. The only areas that will receive more
rainfall over the next 2 days compared to Thursday will be along
and east of a line from Pensacola, FL to Luverne, AL. As it stands
now across the entire forecast area, we are expecting additional
rainfall amounts to range from 0.2 to 0.7 of an inch northwest of
the Interstate-65 corridor, and from 0.7 to 1.3 inches to the
southeast. Therefore, we are expecting any additional flooding
concerns across the area outside of some possible nuisance
flooding along the coast from Navarre Beach to Destin. Light
northerly winds will occur today into the evening as a low
pressure system just off our coast departs off to our east. Light
winds will then occur over the weekend prior to a cold front
passing through the area Sunday night ushering in a much cooler
and drier airmass as a strong surface high builds in from the
north. In fact, we could see some sub-freezing temperatures across
the northern half of the forecast area Monday night. Dry weather
conditions will prevail through the remainder of the forecast,
although a few spotty light showers may occur Wednesday night.
Beach Forecast: A MODERATE risk of rip currents will persist today
into the early evening hours, followed by a LOW risk over the
weekend through Tuesday night due to northerly winds. /22
