.DISCUSSION...
Issued at 215 PM CDT Wed Aug 6 2025

The axis of the upper trough over the eastern CONUS will gradually
weaken as it shifts to the Eastern Seaboard by Friday afternoon. A
weak upper ridge will then setup over the eastern CONUS over the
weekend, with an inverted upper trough forming over the western
Gulf and lower Mississippi River region. This trough, however,
will get pushed further west through early next week as a second
upper high pressure ridge builds over our region from the east.
Light and variable surface winds will continue through Thursday as
a weak surface front hovers near the coast, followed by light
easterly winds Friday into early next week as a surface ridge
sets up across the southeast states.

A typical diurnal pattern will continue, even with the loss of the
upper trough, with scattered to at times numerous daily showers
and thunderstorms throughout the entire forecast package. Pulse
thunderstorms are possible each afternoon given ample instability
and minimal shear, so we can't rule out a few strong storms with
gusty winds. Frequent lightning and heavy bouts of rain are likely
as well.

Temperatures remain steady over the next seven days, with highs in
the upper 80s to lower 90s. With surface dewpoints ranging from 70
to 75 degrees, afternoon apparent temperatures (heat indices) are
expected to be in upper 90s. Lows should be in the lower to middle
70s interior areas, and upper 70s along the coast.

Beach Forecast - The rip current risk will be LOW tonight through
the weekend. /22

.MARINE...
Issued at 215 PM CDT Wed Aug 6 2025

Winds and seas will be higher near storms through early next week.
Reductions in visibility are likely in heavy rains and frequent
lightning will also pose a hazard to recreational and commercial
boating interests. Otherwise, expect light and variable winds to
continue through Thursday, becoming a light easterly flow Friday
into early next week as a surface ridge sets up across the
southeast states. /22
