...NWS Damage Survey for March 15 2025 Tornado Event Update #4...
.Update...
Added information pertaining to path widths and fatalities.
..Tornado 1 - Kentwood, LA to Darbun, MS...Western Tornado
Rating: EF4
Estimated Peak Wind: 170 mph
Path Length /statute/: 36.81 miles
Path Width /maximum/: 0.7 Miles
Fatalities: 3
Injuries: Unavailable
Start Date: 03/15/2025
Start Time: 12:17 PM CDT
Start Location: 3 ENE Kentwood / Tangipahoa Parish / LA
Start Lat/Lon: 30.9461 / -90.4859
End Date: 03/15/2025
End Time: 01:02 PM CDT
End Location: 7 NE Salem / Marion County / MS
End Lat/Lon: 31.3116 / -90.0403
Survey Summary: This tornado touched down just northeast of
Kentwood, LA and produced EF1 damage northeast through most of SE
Pike County in MS. As it started to cross into Walthall, EF2 damage
was noted. Pockets of EF3 damaged occurred all along the path as it
continued through Walthall County. West of Tylertown on the north
side of 98, a well built, well anchored home, was swept from the
foundation, leaving debris in a pile and thrown behind the home.
This home was determined to have 170 MPH EF4 damage. It is likely
the tornado was at EF4 strength at other parts on the track but with
only manufactured homes in rural areas impacted, this house is
currently the only EF4 damage in Walthall County. The EF3 damage
throughout the county was all demolished single or double wide
manufactured home with the debris swept away. Widespread snapped and
uprooted trees were noted on ground surveys and via drone and
satellite. 3 fatalities were noted with this tornado. The ground
survey team learned about 10 injuries but that was only because
family members were around. The total injuries of 10-20 were county
based so we are unsure how many were associated with each tornado.
The width was estimated via ground survey, satellite and drone data
and for now is estimated at 0.7 miles, or around 1200 yards. This
may need to be updated in the future. This path continues northeast
into Jackson's county warning area and ends just west of Collins, MS.
..Tornado 2 - Tylertown to Darbun...Eastern Tornado
Rating: EF3
Estimated Peak Wind: 140 mph
Path Length /statute/: 17.20 miles
Path Width /maximum/: 0.5 Miles
Fatalities: 1
Injuries: Unavailable
Start Date: 03/15/2025
Start Time: 01:24 PM CDT
Start Location: 3 W Tylertown / Walthall County / MS
Start Lat/Lon: 31.0896 / -90.2183
End Date: 03/15/2025
End Time: 01:44 PM CDT
End Location: 6 NE Salem / Walthall County / MS
End Lat/Lon: 31.2864 / -90.0404
Survey Summary: An EF3 tornado touched down just southwest of
Tylertown, MS and tracked through Darbun and into Marion County, MS
and the Jackson NWS office's area. This is the second Tylertown
tornado, the one that tracked just to the east of the stronger one.
The tornado moved northeast with many destroyed single and double
wide manufactured homes along the entire track as well as miles and
miles of snapped and uprooted trees. The EF3 140 MPH points were all
destroyed and swept clean manufactured homes. There was one fatality
noted in one of these homes. Utilizing satellite and drone imagery
and ground surveys found multiple locations with a width around 0.5
mile/880 yards. Adjustments made me needed as more imagery is
analyzed. The ending lat/lon may also eb adjusted in coordination
with Jackson WFO. The injuries for this are unknown as they are
based on a county scale, not tornado scale.
..Tornado 3 - Madisonville to Covington...
Rating: EF1
Estimated Peak Wind: 95 mph
Path Length /statute/: 7.55 miles
Path Width /maximum/: 20 yards
Fatalities: 0

A waterspout moved onshore near Madisonville causing damage to marsh
grass south of Hwy 22 which is visible in high resolution satellite

LA Hwy 22 where several branches were snapped just west of Fairview-
