.NEAR TERM...
(Now through Friday)
Issued at 430 AM CST Thu Jan 23 2025
The snow was fun and all but we are ready to get back to
our regularly scheduled winter programing as we gradually warm
across through Friday. We will remain dry through Friday despite
southwesterly flow aloft and a weak shortwave moving across the
area. We do expect to see continued black ice this morning where
melting snow was able to re-freeze. This is especially true in
locations that are mostly shaded and snow has remained on
roadways. Today will be another rather sunny day which will help
melt a good portion of what snow remains and road conditions
should rapidly improve throughout the day. Even with the
approaching shortwave from the west, we will likely be too dry for
even clouds to really develop and as a result Friday will also be
a rather sunny day. Overall just looking at a temperature
forecast as our snow quickly disappears. Highs will gradually
increase each day as they climb into the 40s and lows will hover
in the 20s through Friday night. We probably will see some
continued cold products but given how could it has been it will
probably feel balmy in comparison. Re-freezing will be expected
for any snow that remains; however, given how yesterday went we
are not sure how much will be left after today. BB-8
