.DISCUSSION...
Issued at 342 AM EST Fri Dec 6 2024
Northwesterly flow aloft with a more westerly to southwesterly
flow at the surface has begun to disrupt the lake moisture
connection and any remaining snow showers are now drifting
eastward and will diminish this morning. Temperatures still cold
today within the mid level northwesterly flow regime and breezy
winds later today with the diurnal surface differential heating
due to a moderation in clouds allowing for a few peeks of sun.
Wind chills this morning in the single digits but will improve
slightly into the teens by this afternoon. Highs today will
struggle to get out of the 20s, but a few locations will see
highs near 30.
Saturday a westerly zonal flow aloft will arrive over the region and
a warming trend will commence over the next several days. Highs
will approach the lower 40s on Saturday and will be a welcome
development for most. Further warming for Sunday and Monday with
highs into the upper 40s and lower 50s. A weak southwesterly
disturbance ahead of another clipper system will arrive late
Sunday and increase chances of rain showers through Tuesday
morning. A colder influx commences by Tuesday afternoon, with
highs only in the mid 30s to lower 40s, and the cold northwesterly
flow will once again turn on the lake effect machine and also
bring a transition to the frozen variety with snow showers
mixing in and ultimately turning over to all snow showers by
early Wednesday morning. Highs on Wednesday will only be around
the freezing mark. Lows on Wednesday morning will return to the
20s and by Thursday, lows only in the teens and highs back only
in the 20s. Zonal flow returns by Thursday and will see dry
weather return into the end of next week.

.AVIATION /18Z TAFS THROUGH 18Z SATURDAY/...
Issued at 1229 PM EST Fri Dec 6 2024
High pressure centered over the mid Mississippi River Valley
will keep things dry through the TAF period, albeit breezy and
with a bit more cloud cover overnight. Winds have become breezy
this afternoon; potential for gusts to 20 kts remains through
sunset. Visible satellite shows some mid and high level clouds
visible upstream, which may drift into the area (especially
closer to KSBN) overnight tonight. Nonetheless, ceilings will
remain VFR through the TAF period.
