.KEY MESSAGES...
Updated at 1219 PM CDT Fri Oct 31 2025

 - A few localized areas well inland may experience some patchy
frost early Friday morning and late Friday night into early
   Saturday morning.

 - No additional impacts are anticipated through the period.

&&

.DISCUSSION...
Issued at 1137 PM CDT Thu Oct 30 2025

A large and broad upper trof pattern will be present over the
central and eastern CONUS on Friday which then amplifies through
Sunday and becomes oriented over the eastern states. An inverted
surface trof develops over the north central Gulf Saturday night
then weakens and moves off to the east Sunday into Sunday night.
Deep layer moisture remains limited over the area and have
continued with a dry forecast through Saturday night. Deep layer
moisture continues to look limited Sunday into Sunday night as the
inverted surface trof passes by, and other than some small pops
near the coast of the western Florida panhandle, dry conditions
are expected to prevail. A large surface ridge builds into the
region early next week, after which it's possible that a weak cold
front may approach the area from the north and move through on
Thursday. Dry conditions are nevertheless anticipated to continue
through Thursday as deep layer moisture continues to remain
limited.

It's possible that a few patches of frost may develop well inland
overnight into early Friday morning, but noted that surface wet
bulb values will be in the upper 30s thus favoring dew over
frost. Similar conditions exist well inland late Friday night into
early Saturday morning where can't rule out a few patches of
frost, but otherwise wet bulb values favor dew development. Highs
on Friday and Monday will be in the mid to upper 60s with just a
tad warmer values meanwhile expected for Saturday and Sunday. A
modest warming trend ensues Tuesday, with highs on Thursday
reaching the mid to upper 70s. Lows Friday night range from the
upper 30s well inland to near 50 at the immediate coast then lows
Saturday night range from the lower 40s well inland to around 50
at the coast. Lows Sunday night will be cooler and range from the
upper 30s well inland to the mid 40s at the coast then gradually
moderate through Wednesday night to range from the mid 40s well
inland to the mid 50s at the coast. A low risk of rip currents is
anticipated for Friday through Tuesday. /29

VFR conditions are expected over the next 24 hours, along with
light winds. /96

.MARINE...
Issued at 1137 PM CDT Thu Oct 30 2025

Light northerly winds prevail on Friday then become easterly on
Saturday. A light to moderate northerly flow develops Saturday night
and continues through Tuesday, meanwhile increasing a bit Sunday
night. Small craft may need to exercise caution Sunday night well
offshore. /29

Area Forecast Discussion
National Weather Service Wilmington OH
1203 PM EST Wed Nov 5 2025

.SYNOPSIS...
Dry conditions persist until Friday when an active weather pattern
develops. On Friday, rain with some embedded thunderstorms are
possible ahead of a cold front. A second cold front will bring
another chance for rain on Sunday before potentially allowing for
some snow flakes behind the front Sunday night.

&&

.NEAR TERM /THROUGH TONIGHT/...
A low pressure moving across the eastern Great Lakes this
afternoon/evening will push a cold front through the Ohio Valley
later today. Ahead of the front, windy and warm conditions continue.
Wind gusts upwards of 30 mph are possible during peak diurnal mixing
this afternoon. After FROPA this evening, winds shift to the north
before relaxing overnight as high pressure builds in from the west.
Forecast lows drop to the middle 30s.

&&

.SHORT TERM /THURSDAY THROUGH THURSDAY NIGHT/...
A surface high quickly moves across the Ohio Valley on Thursday
bringing dry, sunny, and cool conditions. The surface high exits to
the east on Thursday night when the next low pressure system starts
moving into the Great Lakes. A strengthening pressure gradient over
the area will allow southerly flow in increase overnight which
limits lows and gradually increases moisture. Any rain chances are
likely to hold off until the daytime of Friday.

&&

.LONG TERM /FRIDAY THROUGH TUESDAY/...
On Friday, a low pressure system moves east through the Great Lakes
and a cold front associated with the mid latitude system will
progress through the Ohio Valley. While the exact timing of FROPA is
uncertain (anywhere from late morning to late afternoon), a healthy
chance for rain with some embedded thunder exists ahead of the front.
The overall risk for severe storms is low since instability is
likely to be very limited, but some stronger winds mixing down are
possible in the strongest showers/storms. A late frontal passage
would be more favorable for instability to form rather than an early
FROPA. Rain chances quickly subside behind the front Friday night
into Saturday before the next system approaches from the west
Saturday night.

On Saturday night/Sunday morning, a deepening low is expected to
move through the Ohio Valley ahead of an upper level vorticity max.
Rain is possible in front of the low and associated cold front on
Saturday night. Much colder air arrives Sunday morning behind the
low on breezy northerly flow. Temperatures will likely drop through
the 40s during the day with on and off rain showers persisting.
Precipitation chances may then linger into Sunday night as
temperatures continue to drop which may support the first snowflakes
of the season across the area. Minor, brief dusting are possible,
but there is little ensemble support for any impactful accumulating
snow and the ground is warm.

Cold conditions persist Sunday night through Monday night. The first
hard freezes of the fall season are expected both nights with
forecast lows well into the 20s. Temperatures start to moderate
toward the middle of next week.

&&

.AVIATION /17Z WEDNESDAY THROUGH SUNDAY/...
VFR conditions persist for the TAF period with only some VFR
ceilings occurring.

Breezy southwesterly winds veer to the west and eventually the north
this evening after a dry cold front passes through the area later
today. Gusts upwards of 30 knots are possible before 0000z. For
tonight, winds gradually relax before becoming light and variable
after 0600z. Light and variable winds continue into Thursday with
surface high pressure moving overhead.

OUTLOOK...Gusty winds along with MVFR conditions in rain is expected
on Friday.
